THE BAD-FI

Hmmm, the antennas are mostly oriented correctly.
Placement on top of a metal air duct in a hallway?
Not so much.

Thanks SFMTA!

THIS. IS. AWESOME.

AP, gingerly placed behind a T.V., on a concrete wall and oh, there a FRIGGIN’ BIRD on it!

Nope, nothing wrong here.

Technically, that Painter’s Tape’s not causing much attenuation if any at all.

But, Boy, is that gonna hurt when it falls on someone’s head.

Ok, so you figured the antennas should probably be pointing out.

How about in the correct orientation?

How about NOT PLACE THE AP IN A CAGE?

Bad, bad, fi.
@shutostrike @wifichef So… you’re saying this isn’t optimal antenna placement? pic.twitter.com/5PW0lBBNx7— Jerry Olla (@jolla) July 18, 2014 PROBLEMS:

PROBLEMS:

  1. Metal.

  4. Wrapped in power supplies.
  5. Not sure they looked at the spec sheet for that APs antennas pattern.

I’m not even going to discuss the cabling job.

IT AIN’T ALL BAD, FOLKS! Really like how Cisco places the AP in the middle of the antenna patterns. Makes it much easier to visualize them. 👍
Wish ALL vendors did this.

Now that we all understand antennas patterns can we please just install the APs correctly positioned?

Thank you.

Remember how we talked earlier about knowing/understanding your antennas patterns? Here, you’re basically shooting APs into each other and not much else.
